Professional weed control for commercial growing environments

NutriPack Agri Woven Ground Cover is a high-strength, UV-stabilised woven polypropylene fabric designed to provide effective, long-term weed suppression in commercial agricultural, horticultural and nursery applications.

The tightly woven construction creates a physical barrier that restricts sunlight from reaching emerging weeds, significantly reducing weed growth around crops, growing bags and containers. This helps growers reduce ongoing manual weeding requirements and reliance on chemical herbicides while maintaining a cleaner and more manageable production environment.

Unlike solid plastic sheeting, the woven construction remains permeable to both water and air. Rainfall, irrigation runoff and excess water can drain through the fabric rather than accumulating on the surface. This is particularly beneficial in containerised production systems, where the ground cover is installed beneath growing bags or pots. In other applications where the fabric is laid directly over soil, its permeability also allows water to infiltrate the soil beneath.

Why NutriPack Agri Woven Ground Cover?

Commercial growing environments require more than basic weed control. Ground cover needs to withstand intense UV exposure, irrigation, rainfall, regular foot traffic and the day-to-day demands of agricultural production.

NutriPack Agri Woven Ground Cover combines effective weed suppression, water permeability, strength, UV stability and ease of installation in one practical solution.

For containerised crops such as blueberries, it provides growers with a cleaner, more organised and easier-to-manage production environment, while reducing the labour and ongoing costs associated with conventional weed management.

Storage & Installation

Correct storage and installation are important for maintaining the performance and lifespan of woven ground cover.

Before installation, rolls should be kept under cover in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight, moisture and unnecessary exposure to the elements. Although the installed product is UV-stabilised, avoiding unnecessary UV exposure while rolls are in storage helps preserve the material prior to use.

During installation, prepare the area by removing sharp stones, branches, existing weeds and other debris that could damage the fabric or prevent it from lying evenly.

Roll the ground cover out evenly and ensure it is properly tensioned and securely anchored, particularly along edges, joins and areas exposed to wind. Where multiple rolls are required, sufficient overlap should be allowed to maintain continuous weed suppression between sections.

For containerised production systems, growing bags or pots can then be positioned directly onto the installed ground cover according to the required crop spacing.

Blueberry & Berry Production

NutriPack Agri Woven Ground Cover is particularly well suited to blueberry and other substrate-grown berry production systems, where plants are grown in bags, pots or containers rather than directly in the soil.

Installed beneath the growing containers, the weed mat creates a clean, stable and professional production surface while suppressing weeds between and around the bags.

Its permeable woven structure allows excess irrigation water and rainfall to drain through the ground cover, helping reduce standing water around the containers. At the same time, the durable surface makes routine crop management, harvesting and movement through the production area easier and cleaner.

For large-scale berry developments, ground cover can also assist with consistent positioning and alignment of growing bags, particularly when fabrics incorporating grid or guidelines are used.

Trees & Landscaping

At the larger end of the range, NutriPack Agri Woven Planter Bags are available in capacities of up to 2,500 litres, providing a practical growing solution for large shrubs, trees and substantial landscaping specimens.

The broad size range allows growers and landscapers to select a growing volume appropriate to the plant rather than being restricted to conventional rigid container sizes.
